Texas Spotlight

A view of Cinque Terre, Italy.

As I write this note around the autumnal equinox in the final weeks of September, I am hoping that high temps in the upper 90s and lows in the high 70s maybe over for this year. Overall the summer was not too bad. After several years of drought conditions starting in 2010, the rains were initially welcome but new precipitation records were being set each day. On the plus side, the first day of temperatures hitting 90 or above was about a month late.

On a personal note, Eric Aronchick had the most interesting personal trip of our staff, having just gotten back from about two weeks touring Italy. This was a gift from Eric and his sister to his Mom to celebrate a landmark birthday for her. Their trip took them to Venice, Florence, Bulgari (on the Tuscan Coast), Sorrento, Capri, Cinque Terre, Pompeii and Rome.

Woods Hole Group's Dave Szabo's granddaughter...Baby Izzy!

And as I warned you in the last newsletter, I became a proud Grandpa for the first time with the arrival of Izzy in late February. Attached is one picture on her six month milestone. She was born healthy and continues to be healthy and obviously a very happy baby.

Maintenance of four ADCP systems on rigs in the Gulf of Mexico continues to be a significant part of our work. This summer a new system was installed on the Helix Q5000, a new build well intervention vessel. All of these systems use the new OO38 Underwater Electronics Assembly (UWEA), which results in using fewer personnel in much safer situations to launch and recover the systems with little risk of equipment damage.

We are pleased to have been awarded a contract in Colombia for a real time 3m discus buoy system. The system is now installed at a site with water depth of 60m with the intention of it being relocated later to deeper sites. We also have been awarded a real time deepwater mooring offshore Brazil, which will support FPSO operations. That system is expected to be installed this fall.
